This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how exciting it was to bring home an art project for your family to hang on the fridge? My students need basic art supplies to be creative in the classroom.

My students attend a high priority public school in a diverse location.

Due to budget cuts in the district, art supplies are decreasing. Resources such as glue sticks, playdough, and even crayons are limited. The children learn best when they are offered a variety of materials and the freedom to create. I have many ELL and special education students in my classroom who would benefit from these hands on materials.

My Project

My students desperately need glue sticks (one per child). This would allow my them to complete many daily tasks. Although the school provides enough for each child to have one or two, it does not last them the whole year. The students use glue to sort pictures by letter sounds, match words to pictures, and correctly order the letters in their names. They also use glue for all of our art projects. I am also requesting playdough, crayons, paint brushes, and stickers for them to use in the art center during free choice time. This would give them the opportunity to express themselves through art.

These materials may seem basic, but would have an enormous impact in our classroom.

They would allow my students to think and express themselves creatively. My students and I thank you for your consideration and generosity.
