Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you know that through a small group learning environment, students gain more opportunities to express what they know and receive immediate feedback from their teacher and peers? My students enjoy the lessons and attention provided during group time, please help us with the necessary materials.
I have sixty-one eager to learn 2nd graders who are fond of enjoying a book at the carpet.
All my students are Hispanic and most come from a low socioeconomic status. This is their first year they receive 50/50 instruction in both languages, their native and English. Our school is composed of 691 students and we are a Title I school in Texas. Providing adequate materials and supplies is essential to expand their learning opportunities.
My Project
Thorough learning centers, students will have hands-on activities that promote independence, responsibility, and receive opportunities to self-efficacy. The teaching cart will help the students and I stay organized. Students will know exactly where to go find materials and gain academic time. The double-sided easel will be a convenience in the modeling of specific skills during small group. The mobile chart stand will be useful to easily review past concepts on charts that are at student's reach. Ruled chart paper and dry erase markers are everyday essential supplies that are constantly being utilized by my students and myself to reinforce concepts and strategies learned throughout the year.
Many times students go home to no books, no materials, and no support.
For many, our school is the only place where they have an opportunity to be in a center enjoying learning new vocabulary words or writing an imaginative story. Through small group instruction I can target specific skills and better meet the specific needs on each one of them. Please help us have the materials needed to increase our learning opportunities. I invite you to make a change in my student's lives.
