My students are some of the most eager to learn kids I have ever met, however we face some challenges other students do not.
My students are unbelievably optimistic and extremely resilient.
They come to school everyday wanting to learn and willing to do what it takes to succeed in school. Every day some students choose to give up their recess time to practice a skill they haven't yet mastered in class. I teach two 5th grade math and science classes, with 33 students in each. We have grade levels ranging from kindergarten through 7th but my students are focused on not where they are starting but where they want to finish. Some of them have already shown over a year of growth in math, and we have only been in school for 3 months. These kids have unlimited potential and I love to see them realize that as our year carries on.
My Project
Our school, like many schools in underprivileged areas does not get the funding or materials to help our students succeed. The materials I am requesting are just basic school supplies we use everyday. We are tired of answering our math problems in pen/crayon/highlighter we deserve to have pencils..and erasers! I want my students to have the same supplies other students across the country might be taking for granted. My kids will be so grateful and excited to have pencils, sharpeners, their own folders, and paper!
Donating to this project will make our everyday life much easier.
Not having basic school supplies makes each day much more difficult than it should be. My students have endured enough and shouldn't be concerned about having enough resources to learn when they step into my classroom.
