My Students

In Physical Education classes students discover new ways to keep active and physically fit. Middle school is such an important time to introduce students to the importance of keeping active as well as introducing them to new sports.

Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds with a wide variety of socio-economic classes and ethnicities represented.

We have a strong ELL (English Language Learners) program and a large Special Education Population. Despite the struggles that some of our students face at home; they come to school ready to learn. Our students are wonderful 6-8th graders and work hard to be the best that they can be.

My Project

This archery set will be used to update the current materials that we have as well as replace some of the materials that are falling apart. By having these materials we will also be able to include this unit in more PE classes and use with more students. Also, the netting will provide a safe and protected area within our school grounds and will be able to prevent us from losing arrows when they are shot. Students will learn the skill of archery as well as gain an appreciation for a sport that has gained popularity recently because of the Hunger Games books.

Our Physical Education program will continue to thrive by having these resources available.

Learning and participating in a unit surrounding archery will give students a skill that they may not have been able to participate in otherwise. This is also a great way for our PE classes to have a literature tie in and promote reading by helping students enhance a skill that they have read about. Help our students learn a new skill by having these resources available in our PE classes!
