In my typical day I see about 150 students. I teach Psychology classes and History classes. I currently do not have an audio visual cart. This makes it so I can't easily access all of the audio equipment that can be used in the classroom: projector, document camera, and DVD player.
I work in a High School environment and interact with all grade levels in my classroom.
55% of the students that I interact with are low-income students that are every bit deserving of a classroom that can provide them with all types of different learning opportunities.
My Project
Currently in my classroom I show different videos and go through different activities with my students. I do not have a cart that holds the projector, DVD player, and document camera on one cart. This doesn't allow for me to easily switch between the materials so often I will opt for one teaching method over another. The AV cart will help me maneuver the equipment in my room and make it a room that is easily changed for all the different activities planned. The document camera allows me to go through a worksheet and its answers together with the students, while the DVD player allows access to things like youtube videos and website content that can further their knowledge. .
This will allow my students to learn and it will allow me to transition into a new teaching style quickly (capturing the students attention).
It will also help me organize my space ... Happy teacher = happy students!
