My students need a STEM Bundle, Waterway Pipe Builders, Giant Roller Ramps and race cars. I love the idea of inspiring kids, both girls and boys, to get involved in science, math, technology and engineering!
Science and math have always been areas of interest for boys, I teach PreK students and I want the opportunity to get my little girls (and boys) involved in STEM education. I love the idea of a child getting a chance to experience what STEM is all about and sparking a light that grows with them.
My students attend all day Prek in an inner city school.
They are diverse little ones coming from a variety of backgrounds and attending our school which serves a high rate of free and reduced lunches to our population. Many times my children have limited background knowledge and do not have access to materials that children in other school districts do. They have great potential and I know they have a desire to learn. I want to take that desire and provide as many unique learning opportunities as I possibly can. Resources like STEM materials give me an opportunity to share those incredible new learning experiences with them. Learning is a hands-on adventure with these invaluable tools. My PreK kids deserve to have the best education possible and this project will be a big part of that education.
My Project
STEM focuses on instruction in science, technology, engineering and math. Engineering includes design and building. The STEM items in my grant will give these youngsters the opportunity to build a variety of items. Science is also included and when science involves water, learning and fun coincide to bring an educational experience to kids that will spark an interest and love for learning.
We need STEM materials - Waterway Pipe Builders, Giant Roller Ramps and race cars. All of the items in this project give young children an opportunity to become engaged in the educational process in a hands on way. Learning is not about sitting and listening but about predicting, doing, and discussing the experiences with one another. Experiments and experiences provide a foundation for learning that will continue to grow over time.
Students in my district love to learn and also have the ability to learn but may not have access to the resources that children in other school districts do.
I want to be able to provide the resources that I would not otherwise be able to and funding this grant will do just that. Resources like these are able to facilitate and enhance an educational experience for both boys and girls. Donations to my project will impact what my students are able to do in class and how learning actually occurs.
