Students spend too much time on workbooks and need a creative channel to cultivate their imaginations in their own unique way. My first graders are sponges for learning and I would love to be able to afford them the opportunity to discover, express, and experience knowledge in an inventive fashion.
They are creative, dynamic and imaginative children who love to explore the arts.
They attend a school in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We have a diverse population. Our children come from different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. They enthusiastically approach learning each day as a new adventure and they light up when they are able to express their learning artistically.
My Project
Our curriculum is very demanding and rigorous. It can be a bit boring to complete pages and pages of workbooks on a daily basis. My hope is to diversify their learning and meet individual learning styles by providing these materials versus using workbooks. The children work so hard and it is essential to provide different approaches to learning. Students' learning experiences will be more interactive, enriching and hands-on. This will help to keep the students, even the most reluctant learners, engaged. Learning becomes authentic and much more meaningful. Our budget has become increasingly limited . We no longer have the luxury to order arts and craft supplies for our students. I am requesting a variety of arts and craft materials to assist in this process. Craft materials like paints, paper, markers, pipe cleaners, craft sticks, stamp pads, stickers and feathers are fun and kid friendly resources the children can use.
These materials would be an excellent means to promote learning in a fun way.
Being able to express themselves artistically and creatively will make learning connections fun and memorable. They will receive a sense of pride and accomplishment by having their masterpieces displayed for all to admire. In turn, they will benefit from observing each other's uniqueness and different perspectives. Their enthusiasm for learning becomes contagious when they are able to cultivate it artistically!
