My Students

Who doesn't want some color in their lives? Markers, highlighters, colored pencils, sharpies...these are used all the time in my room to complete various projects. Help us have a better supply so all kids have the necessary items to complete assignments.

This middle school in Wisconsin is in a medium-sized city with a diverse student population.

Our school has around 500 students. I teach a range of kids, including students with learning disabilities and students who also take courses at a nearby high school. Many of the students only have the basics and art supplies are not in their budgets.

My Project

We use highlighters to help focus student reading in class and as a way to engage students with a deeper understanding of text. Markers, card stock and colored pencils are used for various book and writing projects throughout the year. We go through quite a few of these items and I'm always in need of more!

Since these are "consumable" items, they need frequent replenishing.

Plus, many of the students don't have the money to provide these materials on their own. I want them to have access without feeling left out or embarrassed.
