Our classroom is filled with exceptional students eager to learn. As teachers when our students stuggle to learn in traditional ways,we need to be able to teach the way they learn.
Our classroom has many students with autism and other health impairments that make paper/pencil tasks often very difficult.
Most of our students live in extreme poverty and many are homeless. We provide backpack meals for the weekends to ensure they have food to eat away from school. We need to give them the tools to create a better life. Our district does not have the funding to provide our classroom with technology upgrades due to a reduction in state and federal funding.
My Project
The learning possibilities, when adding iPads to our classroom, are endless with the latest technology. From applications for specialized for communication, to a hands-on, engaging approach to teach reading, math and social skills. The iPads will open the world up to students that struggle with traditional learning methods. Students will be able to take district testing on the iPads being able to use the touchscreen, where they currently struggle using a mouse and keyboard. The iPads will increase the students confidence and keep them engaged in learning.
Five iPad minis will give many students a voice that they currently do not have and will give others the opportunities for successful learning everyday.
Building confidence and communication skills will be life changing for these students. Please help get much needed technology in our classroom!
