Our mission is to prepare all students to take Advanced Placement tests, but many of our students cannot afford the test prep books that would help them score well. We'd like to provide a selection of test guides that students can borrow, so their test scores will reflect their hard work in school.
Our school is a free, public charter high school that is open to any area student who is willing to undertake a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum.
Students come from a variety of backgrounds, and many are from high-poverty areas in Oklahoma. Our goal is to prepare all students to attend a 4-year university, regardless of what their educational experience might have been prior to high school. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend high school and will be the first of their relatives to attend college.
My Project
Because a high score on an AP test can translate to several hours of college credit, our students take them seriously and want to do as well as possible. AP tests provide an excellent opportunity for our low-income students to get college credit at a low financial cost, but the tests do require them to study hard for months in preparation. Providing these books for our students means that they will have access to the materials they need to prepare for advanced placement tests in English language, English literature, statistics, calculus, physics, European history, American history, government, French, Spanish, environmental science, biology, and chemistry.
Using these test prep books will give our students the skills and confidence they need to perform well on test day.
Higher scores will bring our students one step closer to attaining their dreams of college success.
