An Android Tablet Is How I Learn

My students need an ipad or similar tablet to learn valuable cognitive skills through the use of the many educational applications available.

My Students

So often, materials that are appropriate for older students, such as paper and pencils, are not appropriate for students with significant needs. Using a tablet will allow students to access materials that would otherwise be out of their reach.

My students have significant cognitive and physical disabilities but that doesn't answer "who they are".

They are funny, smart, ambitious, hard-working, caring people. They attend a public K-4 school with their neighborhood friends. My students like to spend time with their friends in their homerooms, at lunch, at recess and in their classes.

My Project

A tablet will provide motivation for students to complete tasks or to allow students to complete a task in a different way. Important activities for our students include tracing and writing their ABC's and 123's. Identifying and matching objects, shapes and colors. Storytelling, interactive stories and using several of the educational applications and activities associated with a tablet will allow our students to learn many basic cognitive skills in a much more efficient way. This resource will significantly help replace current similar activities and eliminate future costs associated with those activities.

Students with special needs deserve to have access to the best we can provide to them.

Having technology at their fingertips will provide opportunities for integration, interaction and success in school.
