The great thing about Health class is that all students can be successful! Because there are no standardized tests in Health, I have the flexibility to be creative in my teaching. This allows students who traditionally earn poor grades to find success in my classroom - sometimes for the first time!
We are a Title I school as well as a California Distinguished School and a Schools To Watch Model Middle School.
My students are used to working hard and rising to the challenges they face! They enjoy learning and demonstrating their knowledge in unconventional ways, and they love the opportunity to move around during class. The success they achieve in meeting my high standards motivates them to work even harder, then they achieve even more success. It's a great cycle!
My Project
Many of my students are very active, and Hokki stools will allow them to move while remaining seated. Sitting on Hokki stools instead of regular chairs will help my students stay engaged, since they must constantly make adjustments to remain balanced. This active seating has been shown to improve student focus while minimizing behavioral problems. In addition, Hokki stools improve physical fitness by building core strength as students work on posture and balance during class.
Active seating leads to active learning, and I want my students to stay engaged!
These Hokki stools will allow my kinesthetic learners to add physical activity into their work. They will have a positive outlet for their energy and will have better focus. With these Hokki stools, students who struggle to stay focused will have the opportunity to move without distracting other students. Thank you for bringing this active seating to my active learners!
