My Students

My students are facing a challenge with traditional algebra and adjusting to Common Core. Traveling through virtual centers would present hands-on math activities and visual and kinesthetic interaction for these students who face a disability in math.

My students are Algebra I pt 2 career pathway students who need sensory visuals and kinesthetics to learn.

Students have a history with numeracy. These students are at-risk and come from poverty. They attend a very rural high school in the south. Many of their parents do not have higher than a high school education.

My Project

The 4 Samsung Galaxy tablets will connect with our school's wireless system and can be used in carousel centers where student can perform task, visit khan academy and other sites, use manipulatively as the calculator and draw graphs and work out problems using technology. My students will learn real life math skills through exposing them to other strategies for learning math other than the traditional.

Virtual math and centers are the focus of 21st century education.

By exposing the at-risk students to this technology, they will become more prepared and become career ready. Students will learn to work with peers and learn skills to find solutions to solve basic algebra. Students will have to link math to real world applications which can be simulated through technology.
