My students need to have file folders, a file organizer, and file storage boxes in order to have have access to the items they miss the days they are absent.
Ever missed a day or two of work and when you return you feel out of place? There is so much to catch up on and do. You are not sure where to begin. Students have this feeling, but with seven different classes, it can be seven times as stressful.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds.
We have students who are out of school for a variety of reasons and amounts of time. It isn't uncommon to have students gone up to a month due to family issues.
These students do their best to stay caught up and not fall behind on their studies. However, when they return it is tough for them to seek out every single teacher for the items they missed.
My Project
Having the file folders, the hanging organizer, and the labels will allow me the opportunity to organize the lessons of the day, at the end of the day, to place them in a location that any student who is absent will know where they are and can access them on an as needed basis.
This will allow them to learn responsibility and help them not have attention drawn to them.
Students are self conscious.
Even when they need assistance they are highly unlikely to ask for assistance. In order to make it less socially awkward, setting up a system that will give them order, repetition, and ease when trying to access missed materials. They are more likely to pick up the missed work and be successful in class when they have missed days.
