A tisket, a tasket, drop a new laptop in our basket! As a teacher whose Kindergarten students use technology daily, I know that if we had a new Windows 8 computer, we could utilize it in productive ways to benefit academics, as well as lessons that enhance fine arts and music lessons.
Teaching is something that runs deep in my family.
My mom and godmother both taught at the same school I am now. My sister teaches at a nearby school as well. We all have a great love of teaching and our community. At this time I am a Kindergarten teacher at a Pre K-5th grade school. My hometown is known to be a close area that works together for our students. Parental support is a definite priority in our area. Our local school has around 550 students. I have a fun loving class who embraces learning!
My Project
When I was preparing my proposal, the nursery rhyme "A tisket, a tasket" kept going through my mind. We need a new computer. "Empowering Students Through Art" is definitely a goal on my agenda. With a new laptop, I could also incorporate project-based lessons which will incorporate lessons that encourage fine arts, music & creativity. With the new upgrades for XP computers in 2014, it slowed down our computers. Our classroom computers are definitely old & we truly need to start working on faster and more efficient computers for my students. As a teacher, I know the importance of focusing on different student levels. I have no doubt, that the use of a new faster computer could be more productive with independent centers to increase reading and math skills levels. With a Windows 8 & new mouse, it would alleviate me having to stop lessons to assist with frozen computers. My students use our computers daily in centers. Even as kindergarten students, they learn so quickly with computers.
For obvious reasons, additional technology money is not readily available for classroom upgraded computers.
Please know that my students and I would be appreciative of your help in having at least one more updated computer. It would be used for productive lessons to bring the students to a higher level of academic achievement and encourage creativity and projects that empower fine arts and music. Can you please help drop a laptop in our Kindergarten basket?
