Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever read a book that left you speechless? My kids are eager to read books that take their breaths away. They know reading can be an amazing adventure, and they are ready to take on theirs now.
My 4th and 5th grade bilingual readers are looking for a space where they can feel comfortable when they read their favorite stories.
They are ready to have a place where they can unleash their minds and imagination. As a part of our Balanced Literacy program, my students read daily by themselves or with a partner during our readers workshop. For this reason, my students need books (in English and Spanish) that inspire them and increases their desire to learn through literature.
My Project
Through engaging books, my students will be able to pick a book that will captivate their senses and leave them hungry for more; they will read books of people that have accomplished amazing things, of mysteries, and of classic fairytales that keep them wondering. They will have choices when it comes to picking their favorite readings; all of this while having a change of scenery and benefiting from a comfy and inviting rug as they read and learn about past leaders and interesting and exiting stories.
Reading changes lives; it unlocks the deepest emotions and pieces of knowledge in young readers' minds and gives them access to a world of opportunities.
Because of this, having this space will definitely influence my students in the most positive way; these books will inspire them and stimulate their love of learning through reading. Additionally, a comfortable and vibrant rug will also add to the creation of a motivating environment, where they can relax and enjoy reading while learning.
