Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I would like my students to be confident public speakers by the end of 6th grade.

I teach at a high-poverty urban middle school.

When my students arrive at the beginning of the year, many of them are not comfortable doing oral presentations in front of an audience. They look at their feet, mumble, and look like deer in the headlights.

My Project

During the year, my students will take four field trips, participate in a 4-day art workshop, and tie-dye their own T-shirts. A digital camera will enable students to take photographs of all of these exciting activities, and students will use their photos in group presentations in front of the rest of the 6th grade in the auditorium.

Having a shock-resistant digital camera will bring excitement and enable students to have a digital record of their activities.

The photos that they capture with the camera will serve as visual aids that will help them to feel confident about their oral presentations.
