My Students

Music class is a wonderful way for our students to let loose and have some fun while learning! Our activities frequently transition from sitting or standing to dancing or freezing in place! We would love to be able to add sitting on a beautiful, clean music rug to that list.

We strive to maintain a friendly, safe, upbeat environment in music class.

Students from kindergarten to fifth grade are expected to sit in chairs (with a few wiggle breaks!) for portions of lessons and would love to spend part of a lesson sitting on a rug! Our high poverty school and the materials within have been well used and unfortunately funding doesn't allow for replacements for some items. The music classroom has a large linoleum tile floor and the playground is equipped with playsand...and we all know how that is!

My Project

I am requesting 1 rug to make our lessons more comfortable, clean and engaging! The rug I have chosen features 24 colorful spaces so each child has his/her own spot during lessons. The center is a large treble clef on a music staff which will help us learn about reading music both visually and kinesthetically! The outer edge features an endless piano keyboard so we can all practice on the rug before transferring it to our keyboards and bell kits!

Your generous donation will improve the musical experience of 750 wonderful children and countless more in the years to come!
