Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Workbooks, textbooks, and worksheets work well in the class, but for kids who have a challenge learning, other approaches to learning need to be taken! An iPad can achieve this for the students in my special education class.
The students in my class are children who have learning disabilities, health impairments, or speech impairments.
We are a Special Day Class with grades 3-5. My students are a class of characters who have a passion for learning, playing, and having a whole lot of fun! We are in a low income school where most of the students in our class are bused from different areas of the city to get the best educational setting for their needs!
My Project
For this project, I have requested an iPad 2 for the children in my class to use on a daily basis. The students will be able to work independently on different tasks for a given amount of time or work in small groups with games that will help them build social skills. The iPad will be used in a variety of ways to help my students advance. There are endless apps that can be used to reach their learning needs while exploring phonics, sight words, addition, and subtraction. The iPad will also allow us to add different books that can be read aloud to the students.
The ways that the iPad will be used in our classroom are endless. I hope you see how a different technological device like a new iPad will help students engage in learning and be excited about learning!
The boys and girls in my class have a very frustrating day.
It is frustrating for them to come to school and have a hard time learning the basics like reading, letter sounds, and vowel sounds. There is something that can help them learn a topic easier or help them become excited about learning rather than feeling frustrated. Not only will it help with their learning in every subject, but it will show them that they are being encouraged in learning by you.
