"There are only two seasons - winter and baseball" Tommy Heinrich. A typical day in my classroom is anything but typical. I teach a full day of Physical Education and then head out to either the weight room or baseball field. Coaching boys at the high school level is both rewarding and exciting.
My students are 60 young men, grades 9-12.
They are amazing, dedicated young people. Over 60% of our baseball family has a GPA of 3.5 or above. The boys in our program not only maintain their grades, but work out daily, volunteer in our community, and set an overall positive example of what it means to be a baseball player. Our school has a uniquely diverse community. The baseball players come together with a shared commitment to the game that thy love. Being a member of the baseball team allows our boys to be part of a team, gain self confidence, and develop a strong work ethic.
My Project
Due to budget cuts, we have very limited resources. We are asking for your help to protect our field and batting cages. Our high school baseball team plays at our local park, since we do not have a field at our school. Our field has undergone tremendous changes over the last year. The bleachers and building were all torn down by the city. Metal Bleachers were put in their place. We have spent endless hours working on the field and cages to prepare for the upcoming baseball season.
Our players and families come and help to work on the field many weekends. As we make continued progress on our field, protecting it becomes very important. The field cover will help to keep everything covered after our games are finished. The batting mats will help to protect the turf inside the cages.
Taking pride in the care in the maintenance of our baseball field and batting cages is the responsibility of our entire team.
A tarp to protect home plate and mats for the batting cages will help to protect the field that we have worked so hard to protect and rebuild. Your donation will help to continue the dream of playing baseball for many years to come.
