As research shows, tablets are becoming popular in classrooms and have sparked interest in teachers across the nation. As a math, science and social studies teacher, I know with a new iPad, I could utilize appropriate apps for both of the 5th grade sections I teach.
I am currently a 5th grade team teacher at a Pre K-5th grade school.
I have 42 students combined in two sections. Our school has almost 550 students at this time. My school is always looking at ways to gain new technology and focuses on the importance of technology integration in classrooms. Our teachers and students are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms daily.
My Project
Like all other teachers, I know the importance of recognizing and addressing individual student needs. With the use of an iPad in our classroom, I would use it in math, science and social studies centers. We could use it for skill practice or to help with technology projects. Last year, our school tech specialist helped set up a school iPad Website to assist with apps. I would use many of the math, social studies and science apps on that site to help reduce gaps with my students. Also, I do plan to use it in whole class activities, connected to our projector and interactive white board.
With a focus on attaining productive technology tools in my classroom, my students and I would love to have a classroom iPad, cover and stylus for center work.
With the VGA adapter, we could also connect it to the projector for whole class instruction. Your consideration in helping us would deeply be appreciated.
