“I believe that we learn by practice." -Martha Graham A typical day involves lots of moving and practice makes perfect! In addition, the students create many researched based projects. I would like my students to gain a better understanding of dance history by the end of the semester.
My students are young adults who love to learn through kinesthetic experiences.
They are either moving and learning a new dance or researching and creating a project in a small group. My students work together and collaborate often. The high school is very large and has an enrollment of about 3,800 students. I have a variety of levels and some students have never had any formal dance training. My students have a passion for dance and are committed to learning.
My Project
The students will be using the 2 computers to research a historical figure in dance. This project will teach the students about famous dance choreographers. The students will work together to gather research, create 5 posters, print the final products, and present their research to the class. The printer will allow for the students to showcase their work and share it with the other students. It will bring the historical choreographers to life and enhance the quality of the students' presentations.
This project will truly make a difference in the lives of my students.
They will be practicing 21st century learning skills through the process of using technology and working collaboratively. They will also present their research to the class in a formal presentation. The computers, ink, printer, and photo paper will all be useful tools in creating the dance history projects.
