My students need a MakerBot 3D-Printer Bundle to experience the future of medicine, technology & science; helping to inspire and create future-tech ready students!
We are teaching in an ever-changing world. Technology and science influences everything we do; how we cure disease, how we communicate, how we learn, and how we live our daily lives; but what about the education to prepare for these future opportunities?
I am a science teacher from a large urban fringe school district where many of my students, due to the economy, have limited opportunities to experience new, technology-driven fields of study.
Our school has a large percentage of students on free or reduced lunch and often funds are short at home as well as in the classroom. I want to be able to give my students the world, but I only have the resources to give them a slice of it. This is where you come in! I feel that we need to create opportunities for our students to reach into our digital future and start to make technology a vital part of our educational setting. By bringing technology, in the form of 3D-printing, into our classrooms, it will create a vital opportunity to help my students prepare for the future and careers driven by this technology.
My Project
We, as teachers, are no longer in an era in which books and rote memorization are how a student learns. Instead, our eyes have been opened to a variety of methods which ask us to engage our students in their own learning and have them create moments where that "spark" is lit, and it makes them want to go out and tell the world what they have just learned. My students yearn for these opportunities, and I want to give them these chances. In order to light my students' fire of interest and capture teachable moments with new technology, it needs to start here in my classroom with a MakerBot 3D Printing bundle. With it, we will be able to take concepts that only existed in the pages of our books and create 3D models, bringing ideas to life. I want my students to be able to graduate from school, able to carry with them the knowledge learned through new and innovative techniques that started with lessons and ideas in my classroom, inspired by science and 3D-printing technology.
With your help, my science students will be able to embrace future-ready technology in our classroom and use its advantages to strive for a better tomorrow; into college, the career world and beyond.
With the use of this MakerBot 3D-Printing bundle in my classroom, I will be able to connect ideas with future-ready technology to my students and make real-world connections that would not normally come from just a textbook.
