Brain Break dancing every morning before we yell "C'myen!" and meet at the carpet for our morning meeting is a great way to start our day. We are raring to go!
My 23 first-grade students are eager, hands-on learners.
They come from differentiated backgrounds with all levels of education. Their parents are invested in their learning and active in the classroom. We have a lot of fun in our school environment and work very hard to exceed expectations!
I have students that need some remediation. I have students that require enrichment. I have students that deserve to be able to explore their subjects with 21st century technology. We are a year-round school which means we move into a new room each time we track back in from track out. Each room has different technology and not all of it works well due to age and usage. Thus, we don't all get our turn to explore with technology during the day.
My Project
These iPad minis will allow us to have dedicated technology for our use only. We could each have a better opportunity to go to MobyMax and do Math and reading programs; Big Universe, Starfall, and Tumblebooks for Language Arts; Pebblego for Science and Social Studies; and BrainPop, Jr. for all subjects! Students who need remediation will have a private venue to practice in. My students in the Kids Into Thinking program will be able to use the minis to collaborate, research, and produce various presentations. All students would have more opportunities to enrich their studies. The headsets would help them stay on task and the attached microphones would allow them to use voice programs to hear themselves read, design a project, or dictate a story.
We can master technology!
The expression on each child's face when they have the opportunity to use the PC or laptop in the room is priceless!
They giggle with each other, assist each other, and really stay in the moment. These donations can only excite them even more and assist in their learning choices and promote independence. What better way to bring them into 21st Century learning?
