2010 Theme - Random Acts Of Kindness

My students need 12 books/materials teaching them how to treat other people, specifically performing random acts of kindness.

My Students

Have you performed a RAK today? That is my theme for the 2010/2011 school year. I want my students to perform a daily, random act of kindness and to realize what a difference they can make in someones day.

I work as a school counselor in Ohio with 600 hundred students in grades K-5.

I work in a very low economic school district with a majority of students coming from single parent or divorced homes. All 600 of my student are very loving and receptive individuals. They are little sponges that soak up everything their teachers instruct them on. Due to many of their troubled home lives, I think it is very important to teach them values in life, specifically how powerful a random act of kindness can be.

My Project

By purchasing books on random acts of kindness and friendship, I will be able to teach my students the value of putting others first. My students will experience a sense of pride in themselves, just by doing something nice for someone! Some of my students will experience a sense of pride and self-esteem, that they may otherwise never experience in their home life. My theme for the school year is "Have you performed a RAK today?" My students will be able to focus on others while receiving a boost in their own self-esteem and self-worth.

This project is important to me due to the sense of entitlement that so many children have in today's day and age.

It is vital to get children to stop focusing so much on themselves and get them to start focusing others. By performing random acts of kindness, the students will find joy in performing good deeds for others, and also increase their own levels of self-esteem. Your donation can help make a difference in the lives of some elementary students in Ohio.
