My students need graphing calculators for Algebra mathematics class. They need calculators to solve and graph equations, inequalities, and real-world applications.
My classes begin with warm up problems and then a lecture. During lectures, students complete notes and do examples of solving different equations. I have a few very basic calculators for students to use and I have to bring in my personal graphing calculator for them take turns using during lessons.
My students range from grades 9-12.
I have very motivated students that often need additional support. I have several students that like to come in on their own time to practice and review lessons for better understandings. They also will take all opportunities to complete extra credit assignments because they are determined to understand objectives.
The high school I work for is dedicated to helping our students obtain the best education possible by providing them 21st century skills they need for college and future careers.
My Project
The students will use a list of instructions on how to use the graphing calculator for a specific task. One example of an activity will be to plot data points gathered from observations. They will then use the graphing calculators linear regression function to find a best fit line. They will learn how to make predictions based on this equation.
The donations to this project would improve the overall learning of mathematics.
The calculators would increase the students understanding of solving Algebraic equations and would show them visual representations. The visual representations would identify and display complex examples that the students often struggle with in class.
