Can you imagine students having access to hundreds of copies of books that were "just right" for them to read? Can you imagine what it might be like to organize those hundreds of titles and reading levels?
The love of reading shared by passionate teachers creates successful students.
Our preschool through 3rd grade students are ready for more! In order for our students to become even better readers, they need to read more books. Ideally, they would be able to have books that are organized by reading level and available for teachers to select.
My Project
Through teacher selection, students will have access to independent reading level books. Having the books organized for ease of accessibility will allow teachers to quickly identify the resources needed to help individualize instruction for students. Book tubs will hold multiple copies of books to create an organized space for multiple book sets. Students will learn about their own reading levels, be able to help categorize books by level and genre, and have a place to store a large number of books.
Research shows that students become better readers by reading.
In order to get many books into their hands, an efficient and organized system is needed. This project, in conjunction with the "Let's Get Books in Their Hands" project, will allow students access to a wide variety of books to read at their own level. The goal is to have them read independently, stay engaged with variety, and hopefully have a love of reading that goes beyond their education.
