My Students

Do you remember your favorite childhood book? Maybe it was given to you as a gift or maybe you were introduced to it at school through your teacher's love of reading. As a literacy coach, I want all students to have access to as many books as possible.

The students in our school are eager to learn.

From preschool through third grade they have a wide range of reading abilities. They are voracious readers with an appetite for more. Our school tries to find meaningful ways to encourage students to read. Whether it's I Love to Read Month, buddy reading, or independent reading they are active and engaged.

My Project

Students will read these books in small groups under the direction of the classroom teacher. After their guided reading lesson, they will be able to put them into browsing baskets to read independently. As they gain skills and confidence, they will move into new levels of more challenging books.

Reading is a lifelong skill.

Providing a solid reading foundation at the early elementary level gives students what they need to succeed in their educational career as well as their future.
