My Students

Kindergarten is a very fun time. It's a special time of every child's life. I'll even bet that you have at least one special memory from your kindergarten class. I enjoy teaching kindergarten, and could not imagine doing anything else.

I love my kindergarten students each year as much as I love my two biological children.

It is disheartening sometimes to realize the situations that my students go through on a daily basis. It is my goal to let my students know they can do ANYTHING! They are smart and capable of anything. I teach in a rural town in south Georgia. My students are a very diverse group of students.

My Project

I am requesting various math games and tools that will help me teach and reinforce important math topics including counting, measurement, and number recognition. Five and six year old children are very much "hands on learners." They do not learn from a paper and pencil-- they learn by manipulating and exploring. It is my hope that these items will help my students understand and comprehend these sometimes difficult concepts.

My project is important because I want to help my children succeed and I believe these items will help them be successful in math class.

My students are not accustomed to receiving gifts-- especially not anything brand new. I know these items will not only help with math instruction, but also show them that I am not the only one who wants them to be successful and believes in them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
