A friend once described teaching this way: It's like trying to keep 30 corks underwater with only two fingers. Challenging? Yes. Hard work? Absolutely. Worthwhile? Without a doubt! I love designing lessons, finding the best materials to share with my kids, tackling a topic in a new way. I love creating an engaging atmosphere where students are challenged and excited and want to learn. I love to see my students gain new skills and a growing sense of confidence. The most rewarding part of my job isn't me watching the growth individual students make over the course of a year, it's watching my students come to understand the vast potential they hold within themselves. My job is to empower my students to the point where they no longer need me. When kids gather and internalize knowledge, develop critical thinking and participatory skills, and understand their own potential within...it makes me smile.
