The income divide in San Francisco is one of the largest in the country, and unfortunately, most of my students did not get the affluent end of the "stick" in life. Statistics will tell you that students like mine won't go to college, won't become successful, won't lead meaningful and productive lives. We don't stand for this kind of thinking--and in fact--we are proving these statistics wrong every single day in our classrooms. Our students have always risen to the challenge and surprise me every day with their ability to be thoughtful and constructive. We are on the road to and through college, one step at a time. Yes, we can!
