On April 18th, 2009, I have a double-digit birthday (oh, ok, why be coy, I turn 55), and my wonderful thoughtful fantastic marvelous incredible beautiful friends at KivaFriends.org hinted I should create a page here to celebrate. We are all supporters of and lenders through kiva.org and we've been helping fund classroom projects together, particularly those involving reading (especially "Three Cups of Tea") and those focusing on awareness of poverty, the developing world, and the knowledge that we are all one family of humanity.
And so, in that spirit, I am creating this Giving Page and inviting everyone to join us in helping these students and teachers become more aware and compassionate global citizens. I've chosen projects related to global poverty and awareness, reading, art, and respecting the earth (and one project for CHAIRS for the students to sit on, for goodness' sake); open the clicky at the bottom for 10 items on a page (rather than the default 4) and you'll see all of them.
