I am a teacher of a fourth grade inclusion class. Our class is made up of special needs students, “English as a second language” students, as well as gifted students. Because of the diversity of my learners, we are in desperate need of tools that will benefit each one of my students.

My class is in a neighborhood school on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We are a Title 1 school with a significant percentage of children who receive either free or reduced lunch. Most of the parents can barely afford to buy their children school supplies, so most of the funding we receive goes directly to buying basic supplies. Hurricane Katrina flooded our school with between four and five feet of water. Ninety percent of our students were left displaced after Hurricane Katrina destroyed our community. We have been blessed to have others help to replace our basic learning supplies. Our school district, similar to many of my students' families, has so far only been able to replenish only the necessary items, such as textbooks and the like.

I was able to acquire a laptop and cart for my classroom through a grant program. Also, the school district received interactive whiteboards for each classroom. However, the only problem is that I don‘t have a LCD projector to use with the board. I have attended workshops to use this innovative technology, but without a projector, my students can not participate in this hands-on learning experience. Many of the activities that the board can be used for have the potential to address the wide range of learning needs that are found in my classroom.

I have a wonderful group of very inquisitive learners. I know that this will be a wonderful tool that could benefit all of my children. Please help me provide my students with the final tool that we need to embark on this new and exciting learning experience.
