"Do you read sitting at a desk or on your couch?
Do you like to curl up with a good book or read it in a straight-back chair?
Most of my students like to be really comfortable when they read. However, due to the financial hardships that many of my students' families have, many of my kids do not have a cozy nook where they can read at home. Hence, I'd like you to provide them with several comfortable spots in our classroom where they can snuggle-in with their independent reading book. I am requesting beanbags, floor chairs, and floor pillows.
Please help me provide my students with the furniture they need to get really comfortable when they settle-in for independent reading time during our daily Reading Workshops. Students read independently for about 40 minutes. Additionally, I'm asking for some academic tools, such as reader's response notebooks and post-it notes so that my students can prepare thoughtful responses to the literature they read. Finally, this proposal includes a full book check-out system, similar to the libraries of the 1980's. This will help students to become more responsible for the books in our classroom library.
Thank you, in advance, for your generosity.
My project needs chairs, large bean bags, book charts, reader's response notebooks, timers, and post-it notes.

Dear Dean, harriet, Maxwell, Gyda and Anonymous Donor,
I squealed like a little kid in a candy store when I saw that this proposal had been funded. I'm so excited about getting furniture in my classroom for my students to use during Reading Workshop (and beyond). This is going to make our room a MUCH cozier place to be. Yea!!!!
I do not know who you are, but your generosity overwhelms me. You do not know my students, but yet you found it in your heart to donate the funds to give them a more comfortable classroom. Wow! I am amazed!
Sincerest regards,
Stacey S
