As a kindergarten teacher, I often struggle coming up with new and interesting ideas for centers that are standard based and yet enjoyable for my students. I am fortunate to have all-day kindergarten however I teach in an inner city school where over 50% of my children receive free/reduced lunch. ALL of the learning centers will help EVERY child in my classroom in whatever level they are in. We need language centers that include recognizing CVC words, word syllables, phoneme segmentation, identifying uppercase & lowercase letters, beginning & ending sounds, forming letters, matching blends/digraphs, rhyming words, etc. We also need math learning centers to target sorting, patterning, graphing, counting, estimating, measuring. Science learning centers will enable students to raise questions about the natural world while learning about life cycles, understanding the body and five senses, weather,etc. Your gift of these materials can support my students' growth and learning throughout the year, and help students in future years as well.
