My students need 3 hands-on science activity kits for 5th grade that can be distributed into 15 separate kits for take-home science activities, 1 magnet lab kit that can be distributed into 5 separate activity kits, and 3 sets of book libraries where individual books can be placed inside of the take home kits to help the students understand the concepts being explored.
Check-It-Out Science Adventures is a hands-on Science grant to encourage students and parents to take home Science kits in order to explore and review difficult concepts such as magnets, force and motion, simple machines, and matter.
I teach all subjects in a fifth grade classroom at a Title I school where most of my students and their families have very few supplies or materials to explore science concepts at home. Parents in my school are very willing to be involved in their children's education, but they need the guidance and material to reinforce these difficult concepts.
I need 3 commercial science kits, 1 magnet lab kit, and 3 sets of science concept books that can be taken apart and made into 20 individual take home science experiment kits for my students to check out, take home, conduct experiments, and report their finding to the class. This exploration will not only reinforce classroom instruction in magnetism, force and motion, simple machines, and matter, but the process will expand student learning through family participation.
Your help will make it possible for my students as well as their families to have an opportunity to reinforce and broaden their learning through connecting classroom science and family participation. At this time in the student's development, no force is more powerful than having family support and involvement.
