Despite our proximity to an economically booming city, 38% of the school's students receive free or reduced lunches. There is an achievement gap which is reflected in low test scores on the yearly state wide tests. Science test scores are the lowest.
Using the hands-on interactive renewable energy kit would increase student participation and motivation which would help to improve science test scores. Instead of simply reading about renewable energy, the kit would allow students to investigate and discover the importance of water, wind, and sun as important energy sources. The reproducible pages in the booklet would allow students to record their questions, observations and discoveries. Also, students could connect to various websites, such as National Geographic and EarthDay to further explore international resources linked to their environmental study.
Even as a young generation, students would discover how they can have an impact in determining the future of our world and the dangers of global warming. hide» The cost of the renewable energy kit and book is $310, including shipping and fulfillment. details» |
