My students need access to technology in our school garden to help them research information, take pictures and prepare knowledge learned for a blog they will create.

My Students

A lot has changed since we were kids. One thing that has not changed is how much fun learning outdoors can be, especially now that technology aids us in making learning more interactive and fun! My students face the challenge of not having access to technology to enrich their learning experience.

My students are wonderfully curious, caring kids that love learning though hands on experience!

I work with students in grades K-5th. My students have a passion for Title One school that is located in the "flat lands" of the city. That means that there are not many trees, or gardens surround our school. In our city (Oakland,CA) it is really challenging for our students to spend quality time outdoors. Our school garden is a safe place where they can learn about nature, science, and nutrition through hands on experience.

My Project

Bringing technology in to our school garden with a Tablet PC, would allow our students the ability to research what ever topic we are learning about, for pictures, and facts instantly! Instead of having to wait to go back in to the classroom to get an answer! Primarily, it would allow them to begin a project we have been wanting to do as a class for a long time now: start a "kids in the garden" blog so that they can document what we are learning in the garden, and share it with other students, parents and educators from around the world!

You would be so inspired to see how excited my students are when they share what they did in class with their parents and friends.

It truly is a wonderful feeling to see them so happy and motivated to share with others what they learned! With your help, my students will be able to take their love for sharing knowledge to a whole new level, and be able to share it with the world! Thank you all for your help in making this dream a reality!
