"I am an 8th grade Computer Discovery teacher that is in need of an LCD projector. I live and teach in the town of Bay St Louis. Our school's resources were totally destroyed due to Hurricane Katrina. My classroom had an LCD projector before the storm but it was thrown away or stolen after the storm. I teach computer applications and it is difficult to teach by example without such a device. I have in the past had the students hover around my 15 inch monitor, to try and show them basic operations on the computer. This projector would benefit all of my students. All students at Bay Waveland Middle school are required to take this course. Our school has very few funds to purchase technology, due to this natural disaster. My class sizes have dropped in the past 18 months from 24 students per class to 12 students per class. Our school before the storm only had 43% of our student population on free lunch and now 18 months after the storm we have 80% of our students on free lunch. The projector would allow my students to have differentiated instruction and would also help students who are visual learners. The students would also use be able to use the projector to present projects to the class. These projects would include power point presentations about their lives and about places they would like to visit. Thank you for your time.
