This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know what it is like to have never heard spoken language until you receive hearing aids or a cochlear implant by the time you begin school. Limited language skills effects reading skills.

My high school students live in all five boroughs and travel to a school where they can learn in a dual language environment.

The students learn in an environment where their classes are taught in English and Sign Language. The school is a Title One school and 88% of the students receive free lunch.

My Project

Higher level picture dictionaries will assist my students with visual images, acquiring definitions, and increase their expressive and receptive learning skills. They also will be able to travel from class to class with their dictionaries. Their dictionaries can assist them with learning new vocabulary words during independent reading, speech and hearing sessions and other academic periods.

Your donation will make a difference because it will provide my students with a resource they can use in all their classes and information is readily available.

Incorporating the use of dictionaries into their lessons and speech and hearing sessions will increase their reading, vocabulary, expressive and receptive language skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
