My Students

Creativity! In today's society we are leading our children to a standardized world, in which creativity and thinking outside the box are often penalized.

We are part of a inner city, public elementary school in Illinois with a high number of poverty level families in our population.

Most of my students do not have the necessary tools at home to help them be successful. We are their only chance to advance in life, and we need to provide them with the materials to fill that gap.

My Project

I like to work with my students in learning centers. One of these centers is always dedicated to the use of technology in history. I would love to have an Apple laptop so my students can have hands-on experiences in creating video documentaries for their projects. Our students need to be involved in meaningful activities that relate to their lives. Most students will never have the opportunity to work in a Macintosh platform, a system that may become the standard in years to come. I want my students to be able to use all the incredible applications that an Apple can bring to our audio visual activities, and experience the power and capabilities of a machine used by professionals.

We cannot close the doors to any child regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Every child should have the same opportunities and experiences to help them get ready for higher education today, and a better life tomorrow.
