My Students

When you are five years old, it is hard to sit still and in your own space.

I teach kindergarten in a small Utah town.

I have 25 students in my morning class and 24 in my afternoon class. They are delightful children. My students are full of energy and sometimes find it hard to sit still on our hard carpet during "floor time".

My Project

I currently have masking tape on the floor with numbers written in permanent marker. I am constantly having to change the tape because little fingers tend to pull it up. Our carpet is flat and not the most comfortable to sit on. The children find it hard to sit still for long periods of time.

A soft carpet with colored squares would be a wonderful addition to our classroom.

Not only would it keep the children in their places, but I believe they would sit more comfortably. (Our janitor would also appreciate it. He is tired of vacuuming up tape!)
