My students are active fourth graders that want nothing more than to prove to others that they can achieve anything they put their minds to.

They go to school at a public Title I school in Florida. They are up for any challenge, they actually enjoy being challenged. It makes them work harder and strive to come out on top. With limited resources at home, the more resources we have at school within the classroom, the better. They want to be looked upon as high achieving students no matter what reading level they may be on, as long as they are succeeding at that level.

My Project

I started off with the quote by Christopher Morley because I want to give my students an opportunity for a new life. Students will be able to read each day with a partner in our class and at home! Lively discussions among students will help bridge the gap between my students. We will begin reading "Bullying in Schools" to discuss bullying and how we can prevent this type of behavior at school and at home. Students will then be able to select a book to read with a partner. After reading, students will share their thoughts and ideas about the book. Many times, children will find out they like a similar book as someone they do not really talk to. Having conversations about a shared topic will open the path for more conversations and understanding. Having the book bins in my classroom will help keep our books organized and easily accessible to all of my students.

Providing a safe learning environment for all of my students is my goal.

Teaching tolerance and understanding will help reach this learning environment. My students will love the opportunity to read the variety of books. Books will take my students places everyday!
