My Students

The days of writing notes in class are over! Students depend on e-mails, text messages and tweets to communicate. They want to start a blog so that they can communicate about school related activities in much the same fashion, however, they lack the tools they need to do the job.

I work with a WONDERFUL group of middle school students in a large urban public school district.

My students have many different personalities. Some of them are funny, some are serious, some are shy, and some are just plain silly. However, they are all anxious to get our school blog up and running so that they can start chatting about school business.

My Project

Images are what bring a blog to life! Without images, my students see the blog as nothing more than a "boring book on a computer screen". The 2 digital cameras and memory cards that we requested would allow my students to capture school events and activities as well as classroom projects. The images would allow our blog to be "in living color". The cameras would enable my students to publish and celebrate the hard work that is happening throughout the school. The all-in-one printer would allow them to scan student created documents to upload to the blog. The printer would also allow my students to print advertisements for our blog.

My students need a way to "chat about school" that is interesting and motivating.

Reaching out to them on the Internet throughout a blog is familiar to them and they WANT to be involved in this project. Please help them bring some life to their blog!
