My Students

Do you remember writing your first story in class? You were proud of this accomplishment. What do you do with the stories the children write? We need to organize their stories so parents and fellow students can share their wonderful stories.

My students come from working class neighborhoods where student achievement is a primary goal.

Our school is an affiliated charter for enriched studies and even though we are a California Distinguished School we struggle with funding for basic supplies.

My Project

Our students are very enthusiastic about writing their stories and seeing them in a book. They love to share what they have written and illustrated and would love holding a book that they themselves have published. It is a joy to see their faces when other students and parents pick up their published stories and read them. My students need a pencil sharpener and book binding machine to display them in book form.

Children love books.

Our students love to see their own published copies made into a book. It is a wonderful experience for students to begin the writing process and end with their own published book.
