My Students

In today's world of technology, imagine being in a home with no access to a computer. Most of my students do not have a computer in the home. I want to provide them with an opportunity to take home a laptop and continue their learning at home.

I teach in a rural elementary school in far Southwest Virginia.

My school has a large percentage of low socio-economic background families. Many of them do not have access to technology in the home. Computers are a want, not a need for many of my students.

My Project

With the purchase of a laptop computer, my students will be able to rotate taking home the computer to continue learning at home. I have many educational sites that they can use at home to play learning games, see educational videos, and also practice spelling and word patterns. There are some amazing sites that will seem like play to them, but that are actually fostering their learning.

To be able to provide learning by technology to students who do not have this access will make a huge difference in their progress this year. So many of my students need even more time with learning activities than we can give them here at school. By providing a fun avenue for them to access learning sites, we will encourage learning outside of the school setting! THANK YOU!
