This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a survey given to my scholars the average number of books they had in their home was 4. In order to become fluent, independent readers, they need access to more books. My classroom does not have enough books at the second grade level to satisfy the reading needs of my scholars.

My scholars are amazing second graders in Los Angeles.

They work incredibly hard in order to overcome the odds against them in this high poverty neighborhood. All the books they have been lent have been returned in excellent condition because they adore reading and treasure their books. Giving them books gives them a greater chance of attending college.

My Project

The books you are gifting my wonderful second graders are classics in fiction and nonfiction written by noteworthy authors. My scholars are starving for more good books. You would be satisfying a great need by donating to a classroom lending library.
