A Violin and Lots of Strings

My students need a new violin with new strings to help improve the sound of their instruments.

My Students

An orchestra can only sound as good as its instruments. Playing on old, poor quality instruments can be frustrating, and playing on instruments with old strings makes it very difficult to play in tune. Help us improve our sound!

Our orchestra is small but has several very talented players.

Some students take private lessons, play in local community orchestras, and are very advanced musicians. Other students have been playing just a few years, but have a love of music and a desire to improve.

My Project

A few of our students have their own instruments which are generally of good quality. This makes it critical for those students who do not have their own instruments to play on decent violins, violas, and cellos. We are beginning to upgrade our school string instruments so that all students will have good quality instruments to play. Purchasing a new violin is the first step in this process. Restringing some of our older instruments will also help with our sound. When students sound good they are inspired to practice more and to feel good about their playing.

My goal is to develop a lifelong love of good music.

While a few of my students may go on to play professionally, all of them will continue to listen to music. Playing in an orchestra is a great way to understand the passion and beauty of quality music, and to develop good listening skills. Playing on quality instruments can only enhance that experience.
