Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember Social Studies class? I do and I remember it being FUN! I work hard to plan lessons that are interactive and engaging but I am limited in the resources I have at my disposal. These items will help my students become more engaged and become eyewitnesses to History!

Our school is a charter school in Southern California.

They are eager to learn and require a multipronged approach when it comes to learning. They lack many materials in class that would really give them visual and kinesthetic representation of events in history. They do their best to imagine and grasp historical events. My students are hardworking and have increased their test scores by an average of 5% since their last midterm.

My Project

These resources will help me continue with my work in creating a student accessible class library for them to research and independently explore history. Specifically, the Eyewitness to History books will aid in that regard. The Social Studies Resource Boxes will help in creating a more robust classroom experience in that the boxes do contain many materials that our classroom is sorely lacking at this time. In short, my students will have access to more materials to help them become self inspired explorers of history.

My personal goal is to have 75% of my class passing their History class this year.

Please help me in reaching that goal. I have invested quite a lot of time, effort, and funding into my classroom and continue to do so out of my own pocket. As a teacher, I feel it is my responsibility regardless of reward. Thank you for your consideration and have a great day!
