Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever felt frustrated? Unable to kick a bad habit? Unmotivated? Not sure of how to get out of a bad situation? Ever feel like a failure? We've all been there at one time or another. Sir Winston Churchill said "Failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts".

1700 students attend my middle school in California.

We have 6th-8th grade students. Approximately one-third of our population comes from our local area and two-thirds have chosen to attend our school on various attendance permits. We are a PI4 school that is always striving to do better.

My Project

I am asking for motivational pencils that I can give to my struggling students to help them remember to "Never Quit" trying. Struggling middle school students often lack the intrinsic motivation that helps students stay focused on long-term goals. They need tangible reminders of their goals and the steps to success. Their successes along the way need to be acknowledged in a timely manner so that they do not lose sight of their long-term goal. I want to use the certificate paper funded from this project to acknowledge the successes of our students and to give them a reminder that the little steps along the way make their goals attainable.

Every one needs an "Atta boy" from time to time.

The smallest encouragement given at the right moment can make the biggest difference in the life of a middle school student. Whether it be a pencil or a piece of paper with their name printed on it, a tangible reminder that someone believes in them will make a difference in the life of a struggling middle schooler.
